Bio
Stacy L. Henderson has gained a reputation as an outstanding civil litigation attorney, specializing in employment law, corporate law, municipal law, and real property, including eminent domain. Ms. Henderson has litigated cases for her many corporate and individual clients in federal and state courts throughout California. In her litigation practice, Ms. Henderson has guided her clients through cases involving a wide variety of legal issues including breach of contract, environmental contamination, interference with property rights, commercial lease disputes, unlawful detainer, and eminent domain. She has experience representing clients in cases from both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s perspectives. She has also served as co-class counsel in a number of class action cases involving allegations of product defect and unfair business practices.
Ms. Henderson works diligently to reach the result in each case that meets her client’s individual needs, whether through her first-hand negotiation of a settlement, mediation, arbitration or trial. In a recent trial, she litigated issues of nuisance, trespass, breach of contract, and failure to make required disclosures. After the six-day trial, Ms. Henderson successfully received a $487,500 verdict from the jury, and recovered an additional $45,850 in punitive damages for her clients.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Henderson specializes in employment law, advising both employers and employees. She also advises a diverse set of corporate clients, as well as developers, non-profit developers, public agencies, regional centers, farmers, dairies and individuals on topics such as employment issues, entity formation, contract and lease negotiation, negotiation with public entities, and the creation and modification of easements, licenses and road maintenance agreements.
From 2003 through mid-2007, Ms. Henderson was the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Ripon. As Deputy City Attorney, she was a member of the City’s Code Enforcement Team, advised the City’s Planning Commission and City Council, counseled the City regarding various laws and legal issues affecting the City’s day-to-day activities, drafted ordinances, handled disputes with individuals and entities, and represented the City in lawsuits to which the City was a party. Currently, Ms. Henderson continues to represent the City in litigation matters.
Ms. Henderson received her Juris Doctorate, with Distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2002. Upon graduation, Ms. Henderson was named a member of the Order of the Coif. She was also given the Honors at Entrance designation and the McGeorge Scholar Award upon acceptance to McGeorge. While at McGeorge, she was placed on the Dean's Honor List from 1999-2002. Ms. Henderson's honors include being appointed Teaching Assistant in Torts and being named a member of the prestigious Roger J. Traynor Honor Society. In addition, she was the recipient of Verne Adrian and Annabel McGeorge Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Emil Gumpert Trial Advocacy Award.
Prior to law school, Ms. Henderson attended California State University, Fresno, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in Criminology in 1999, Magna Cum Laude, after only three years.
Ms. Henderson is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association and the San Joaquin County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the State of California and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District and Northern District of California.
Ms. Henderson is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of San Joaquin County and the Leadership Stockton Class of 2009. She has also shown her dedication to the community by volunteering as a member of the Lambda Theta Phi organization, whose sole purpose is to raise funds and provide hands-on assistance to various charitable organizations within San Joaquin County. She remains an active Delta Gamma alumni, and previously served as the Advisory Team Chairman for the Delta Gamma chapter at University of the Pacific.
